Kabag sa Baby: Symptoms, Remedies, and What Moms Should Know
As a mom, hearing your baby cry non-stop is heartbreaking—especially when you’ve fed, changed, and rocked them already. One common cause of this unexplained crying is kabag (gas pain or colic), and it’s more common than we think.
Let’s talk about the signs, home remedies, and when it’s time to call the doctor.
💡 Ano ang Kabag sa Baby?
Kabag happens when gas gets trapped in your baby’s stomach, making them feel full, bloated, or uncomfortable. Since babies can’t say, “Masakit ang tiyan ko, Mom!”, they cry to show they’re in pain.
❗ Symptoms of Kabag in Babies
-
Iyaking hindi mapakali kahit busog at malinis
-
Tumutuwid o nangangaligkig ang mga paa habang umiiyak
-
Umuutot ng madalas
-
Matigas ang tiyan kapag hinawakan
-
Umiiyak lalo tuwing hapon o gabi
🌿 Home Remedies for Kabag sa Baby
1. Burp After Every Feed
🍼 Gently burp your baby after every feeding—kahit breastfeeding or bottle. This helps release trapped air before it builds up.
2. Tummy Massage
💆♀️ Gently massage your baby’s tummy in a clockwise motion using baby oil or a warm hand. This can ease the gas out.
3. “Bicycle” Leg Exercise
🚲 Lay baby on their back and move their legs in a bicycle motion—nakakatulong ito sa pag-release ng gas.
4. Warm Compress
🌡️ Use a warm (not hot!) towel and gently place it on baby’s tummy for 1–2 minutes to relax the stomach muscles.
5. Gripe Water or Gas Drops
✔️ With your pedia’s approval, you may use gripe water or simethicone gas drops. Laging magtanong muna sa doctor!
🛑 When to Call the Pediatrician
-
Kapag hindi talaga tumigil sa iyak kahit anong gawin
-
Kung may lagnat, pagsusuka, o diarrhea
-
Kapag kulubot o parang dehydrated si baby
-
If the stomach seems bloated and hard for too long
Mommy, kabag is normal—but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer through it. Learn your baby’s cues, try gentle remedies, and always ask for help when needed. Trust your gut—it’s part of your supermom instincts!
You got this, Mama. 💖
